HOW DO YOU WIN AN ELECTION?

American elections are traditionally One Man, One Vote.  However this election ran on a different theme.  By the time both the Republican and Democratic conventions were over, no one  was certain whether we were witnessing an American election, or a dog and pony show from some third world country.

The Republican Convention was held in July 18-21, 2016.  Remember, there were, at one time 11 candidates vying for the voter's attention.

Although the speeches given at the convention mattered, the debates that the candidates took part in mattered more.  All of the twelve debates were dominated by Donald Trump, except for one, in which he did not attend.

Mr. Trump bullied and insulted his way through the candidates calling Marco Rubio"Little Marco" and referring to Jeb Bush as "spiritless".
The worst of his insults he saved for Ted Cruz's wife and father. Trump criticised Heidi Cruz's looks and claimed that Cruz's father had a hand in the assassination of JFK.

His rallies were a mishmash of prejudicial rhetoric and sky high promises.  He blamed Muslims for terrorism, accused Mexucans if being rapists, and alienated both nationalities against him.  The rallies we're known for violence, usually focused on someone who demonstrated against Trumps blatant rasicm.

Mr. Trumps Carnival Side Show

By the time the nomination came around, Trump had managed to bully or subvert every other one of that wide field of candidates into suspending their campaign.  The last to leave was Ted Cruz.  He hung on out of shear disgust for Trump and staunchly denied that he would endorse Trump as the nominee.

The other candidates did, especially Chris Christie (R) NJ who hung behind Donald Trump like a strong arm boy waiting for a hit assignment.  Clearly his wish was VP, a fact he would boo-hoo over in an interview with Channel 12, a New Jersey news station.

At the nomination ceremony, Melania Trump, Mr. Trumps wife, read a speech taken almost word for word from the playbook  of Michelle Obama.

At Trump's keynote address, after his daughter introduced him, the curtain opened to strobe lights and fog and The Donald appeared as if dropped from an alien vehicle.   His speech was heavily scripted and the best one he'd given in the campaign.

This was nothing more than a showcase for Trump.  But, the Democratic Cinvention would take the proverbial cake.

SO .   .  . YOU WANT A REVOLUTION?

The word revolution plants fear in many hearts.  The very idea of a revolution, the act of throwing off existing authority in hopes of replacing it with something else,
 causes nightmares for most politicians.
A country in revolt cannot be governed by the status quo.  The citizens are tired of the form government they are living under and unify to toss it off.  It is a common occurrence in many third world countries, but, I am talking about America.
Although America was founded on and by Revolutionaries in the form of our Founding Fathers, these days the only  revolutions Americans picture are those in far off lands where dictators reign supreme.  For an American to concede that America needs a revolution is unthinkable.
" We're all right," you'll hear, or, "for what?"   Doubtful phrases from those who have been lied to for generations. After all, the last rebellion Americans can point to was the disastrous Civil War, which still rankles certain Americans.

"Do you want that again?"

No.  That is not the kind of revolution we want.
This idea of revolution has been fomented by that infamous rabble-rouser and insurgent Candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders.
He has stated that his goal is to "transform America."
Progressives see him as a saint.  Conservatives see him as the Devil Himself.
Bernie Sanders does not advocate Molotov cocktails and bricks, but a more peaceful and Democratic approach.  By voting out those Senators and Representatives who work against the interest of the people, and replacing them with progressives, a quiet, legal and peaceful takeover of the American government.  With Senator Sanders in the position of President, pushing for a progressive agenda, most of the Senator's expansive political platform would be less problematic to enact.

THE WRENCH IN THE WORKS

The Democratic National Committe (DNC) had their hearts (and their money) on Hillary Clinton for the Presidential nomination in 2016.  One candidate too run against one other candidate in a standard one on one American election.
However, the playing field expanded, especially on the Republican side to include 13 prospective POTUS candidates. The Democratic side ended up with 4.
Before everyone jumped into the contest, like a sack race at a family picnic, the favored idea was Jeb Bush vs.Hillary Clinton, with Ms. Clinton taking an easy win.
Nobody counted on Bernie Sanders.
Now, the Democratic field had Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, John Kusinich, and Jim O'Mally.
Senator Sanders, an Independent from Vermont, upset the entire political scene.  His message to the  American public, that if they were tired of  low wages for long hours, if they wanted to be able to send their kids to college, if they wanted Universal Healthcare, they could get it if they joined as one and demanded these things from Congress made sense tho jobless, hopeless, Americans.
The American public listened, but, here's the catch.  Unless  you were on the Internet, you hardly knew who Bernie Sanders was, or what his policies were.  The Main Steam Media, (MSM)
Almost completely blocked the Senator out.  It continued until he became a force not to be ignored.  Senator  Sanders was pulling in crowds of between 10 to 27,000 people at his rallies across the nation.  He also had unprecedented international support.

On the Republican side, candidates included Chris Christy, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush,  John Kasich, Been Carson, Jim Gilmore, Carly Fiorina, Rick Santorum, Rand Paul, Mike Hukabee and Donald Trump.
Mr. Trump insulted, embarrassed and bullied his way to being the Republican nominee.  He also held rallies in which he excited right wing ideology to a fever pitch, adding in some fascism for flavor.  This upset liberals and progressives alike and comparisons to Adolph Hitler would be made to Mr.Trump.  His bombastic style and hard line approach to immigrants fueled the fire of rascism.

On the Democratic side, Kucinich and O'Malley soon fell too poor poll numbers and only Senator Sanders and  Hillary Clinton remained.
Sanders' poll numbers were like a slow burning fire that started low and soon flared to match, or stay, slightly beneath Ms. Clinton.

This completely upset the DNC and they set about correcting the issue.

Senator Sanders received unprecedented international support.

Do You Really Want It To Be This Way?
America's big mistake.

There is a problem in America.  Most people who live here are extremely dissatisfied.  It isn't easy to live in America, depending on your social strata.  There are those at the very top, and those on the very bottom, and very little in between.  Like a poorly made sandwich, all bread and no meat.
We have an oligarchical upper class, less than 1%, running the lives of 99% of our population.  And the meat of the country, the middle class is shrinking so terribly we might as well say we don't have one.
What has caused this unequal balance?
Americans have been"asleep" for quite a while.  And, just as theives creep into a house while all are asleep, to steal precious possessions, The 1% have crept into Congress and laid large sums of money in the sweaty palms of senators and representatives, stealing our government from under our noses.
They control it all.
That is why Hillary Clinton doesn't have to worry about indictments.  She has benefited for many years from the Rich Men's generosity.  The 1% has a great deal invested in her.  The theft of the Presidential Primary election was necessary to defeat the very popular candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders.  Secretary Clinton absolutely must be President.  Hillary owes them.  Hillary is one of them.  Sanders is not.
The 1% are pulling the strings in American politics.  The People have no voice.  We could soon be immersed in what may lead to World War III.  Clinton favors war with the Middle East because her wealthy overlords desire the oil.  She may be willing to push for Senator Sanders progressive platform and throw some crumbs to the huddled masses, but she will definitely push for war.
Here we are, not wanting another war.  There is even a growing resentment in the armed forces.  Soldiers see refusing not to fight for there country, but refusing to fight a war for oil.  One commanding officer told his men to "defend the Constitution".  Not the president, not the Congress, The Constitution.  A Marine friend of mine says that means defend our rights.  That means defend The People.
There is a pall of uneasiness in this country coupled with expectancy.  The closer time comes to 911 the more jittery I become.  Slowly, the media slips in sly references to that terrible day.  Videos, still shots.  They'll drag out the photos of the perpetrators  and show them on every news cast in every channel while that shadowy 1% sit back and enjoy their sheltered lives.  Not one of their children went to Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia.  Not one.
It will be a hard, dangerous and long fight.  It has only just begun.
